Synn first appeared in Dragon Magazine early in a series called The Voyage of the Princess Ark. While a full campaign was never released there is a bit of info out there on the 2 villains - Deimos the Lich and the dragon Synn. It´s a great game, so if you ever get a chance to play it, do it. It´s probably the best beat´em up arcade I´ve played in my whole life, which every character having an inventory, spellcasters gaining new spells as they level up, doubles of the characters having different sprites and even spells in some cases (for example, the normal mage can cast wall of fire and meteor swarm, whereas the secondary mage can cast cloudkill and power word kill). Interestingly enough, there´s also the "this route is shorter, but has more monsters", and you can choose which way to go. Some endgame bosses are a goblin chariot, a beholder, there are 4 dragons in total in the game (two small green and black ones, and two big red ones, which, when you fight them, you only see their head and claws). I can tell you that yes, you start battling goblins and gnolls, and later on you move on to dark elves, kobolds, hellhounds, and some other stuff. I´m a big fan of Shadow Over Mystara, and I played it often on the arcade.
